The Short Answer
eGumball meets the requirements for recognition as a Google Partner. That is a qualification, awarded through the Google Partners Program on the basis of certification, ad spend and campaign performance.
It is not a partnership between two businesses. We do not work for Google, speak for Google, or represent Google in any official capacity. The word "partner" in the badge means "qualified", not "affiliated".
Certified Partner or Google Partner?
Both names refer to the same qualification. Google originally issued a Google Certified Partner label, then renamed it to Google Partner. A great deal of older material across the web, including some of our own, still uses the earlier term.
If you see an agency using either phrase, it is describing the same thing.
What the Badge Does Not Mean
This matters more than what it does mean, because it is where the industry misleads people.
It does not give anyone influence over Google rankings. The qualification relates to competence with Google Ads, which is paid advertising. It grants no access to Google's ranking systems and no control over search results.
It does not mean inside knowledge. Nobody outside Google knows the algorithm. Everything we know comes from Google's published documentation and from nineteen years of running campaigns and watching what happens.
It does not mean priority support for your listing. Some of our staff are long-standing contributors in Google's own help forums. That is community participation, not a back channel.
It does not guarantee results. No qualification does, and Google itself warns against companies that promise specific rankings.
If any agency implies otherwise, that tells you something useful about them. More on our position here:
eGumball is not Google.
What It Does Tell You
The qualification is not meaningless. To hold it, an agency has to keep staff certified in Google Ads, maintain a level of managed ad spend, and meet performance criteria that Google measures on real campaigns.
In other words, it shows a company works with Google Ads seriously and often enough to be measured on it. Treat it as a floor, not a recommendation.
How To Check Any Agency
Google publishes a public directory of Partner agencies. Search for the company there.
A badge image sitting on a website proves nothing on its own, and plenty of sites display one they are not entitled to. This applies to us as much as to anyone else - check rather than take our word for it.
What We Actually Do
The qualification covers Google Ads. That is one of four things we do:
Google Business Profile optimization and
Google Maps marketing, getting your business into the map results.
SEO, improving how your website ranks in the ordinary web results.
Google Ads management, the paid campaigns the Partner qualification relates to, including keyword research, ongoing optimization, conversion tracking and monthly reporting.
SEM, paid search run as one campaign across the above.
Why This Page Exists
Because it is a fair question, and because the honest answer is more complicated than a badge.
We have been doing this from Irvine, California since September 2007, through Google Places, Google My Business and now Google Business Profile. We would rather explain exactly what our credentials are worth than let a logo do it for us.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is eGumball a Google Partner?
Yes, in the sense that we meet the requirements for that recognition. It is a qualification, not a business partnership.
Is Certified Partner the same as Google Partner?
Yes. Google renamed the label; the qualification is the same.
Does it let you influence rankings?
No. It relates to Google Ads competence and gives no access to or influence over Google's ranking systems.
How do I verify it?
Check Google's public directory of Partner agencies rather than relying on a badge on a website.
